I passed!! After a 10 year hiatus, I've started working on my professional Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation again. Sounds fascinating to you non-industry types, eh? Yeah, well it's not that fascinating for us industry types either...but it is respected enough in my line of work that I trudge on. It requires you pass eight tests on fascinating subject matter like retirment plans and health economics and compensation. (It required ten tests when I started 10 years ago...so lucky for me I waited). After three tests you get the Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation, so I have my sights on that one first.
I have been studying and fretting over this test for weeks. Did I mention that it has been 10 years since I took my last (and only) test. That was two kids and a wedding ago. The study habits are a little bit rusty. I was certain I would fail. Even halfway through taking the test I thought, "Why am I still doing this, I've totally messed it up and should just leave." But then, by the grace of God, I passed! Two down, six (or one) to go. But now I'm totally motivated to get 'er done! Well...may be after the holidays. ;-)
