Ski Utah!

Our first travels in January took us to Utah to enjoy the snow with Susan and Mark. While Megan was content hanging out in the snow and throwing snowballs at me, Emily took to the slopes for the second time. After just a couple runs she was confidently zipping down the hill. So confident in fact that the morning of her refresher ski lesson she says to me, "Mom, the problem with the lessons is that we're supposed to stay behind the instructor...and I think that's going to be a problem because I'm so fast now!"

Susan and Mark hosted a wonderful weekend of delicious food, home brewed beer, playoff football, playing in the snow, and the girls favorite thing, hanging out with Guiness and Murphys.

And finally, on our last morning there, it snowed enough to catch a few snowflakes on our tongues before we left for the airport!

Give me an 'E'!

I personalized Em's new room with her name. The space above the closet was bare and her name in block letters seemed to be a perfect accent.

I used plain cardboard block letters. After painting the letters the brown used in the stripe of her room, I decoupaged with pink and brown patterned paper. I finished them up with embellishments of rhinestones, ribbon and ric-rac (I love having girls!!). Em and I are both delighted with the finished product. I look forward to doing some for Megan next.

Here are some close ups of the detail.

A room of her own..

When Megan was big enough to move out of her crib into a bed, both she and Emily wanted to sleep in the same room. So we made the nursery a playroom and Emily's room became both girl's bedroom. We had the space for them each to have their own rooms and knew we'd make the transition when the time came.

In the fall of last year that time came. After a few years of having to clean up messes that she wasn't involved in making, Emily announced that Megan was "a slob" and she wished she had her own room. So we started discussing the possibility...what colors, how would you arrange your furniture, etc.

Em wanted pink and brown which was an easy transition from the pink with green accents it had been as the nursery. And so our planning and execution began over winter break with the following results...

She loves everything about it. The colors, the bigger bed that fits her and all her stuffed animals, a "reading corner"with a comfy chair and most importantly, a tidy place to call her own.

Flabulous Fashion - Part Deux

Megan is still all about "flabulous-ness". It's about accessories and bling...as you can see from her Saturday outfit selection...

...still working on fabulous color matching.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

We're heading to Utah soon to visit Susan and Mark and to play in the powdery snow. Last night we did an inventory of all our snow gear. Pants. Check. Gloves. Check. etc. Megan officially approved the "fabulous-ness" of the hat she's inherited from Emily by wearing it around the house until bath time.

2009 brought...

a 40th birthday celebration, an NFC Championship, ski lessons, a 10th wedding anniversary, a weekend in New York City, time with Grandmas on both coasts, the 4th of July in the cool mountains of Arizona, a pet turtle, the third grade, a 5th birthday, the loss of a loved one and celebrating holidays with family and good friends.

And now we look forward to all that 2010 will bring us.
